By Gary LiottaEner.co HVAC equipment coil retrofit saves facility $31,818 per year in energy costs.
Project Scope
Ener.co implemented comprehensive HVAC coil energy savings retrofits and the customized Energy Performance Dashboard at a medical center located in New York, NY. To date, Ener.co has treated the facility’s entire existing capacity of air-cooled cooling equipment.
Project Summary
Ener.co performed its comprehensive energy saving retrofit measure on the condenser coils on 220 tons of mission critical air-cooled cooling equipment at a medical center in New York, NY. In this project, Ener.co upgraded four air-cooled condensers by treating the coils with high efficiency Enercoat. Savings were determined per M&V IPMVP® Option-B Protocol. The net energy savings achieved by the coil treatment amounted to 233% of the initial energy savings projection. Treatment shows improved airflow, moisture removal, enhanced heat transfer, and produced a permanent reduction of both compressor and fan power consumption.
- Energy Savings
Annual electric savings equaled $31,818 or 176,767 kWh. Peak power demand was reduced by 22 kW.
- GHG Reduction
With this project the client reduces their annual greenhouse gas emissions by 72 tons.
- Investment
Project cost including HVAC improvements and Energy Performance M&V totaled $37,292.
- Financial Return
The project has paid itself back completely from energy savings in 10 and a half months. The project is on track to produce an additional $445,452 over the next 10 years.
- Other Benefits
Extended life of the coil assembly. Improved thermal comfort and significant additional humidity removal. Easier to clean.
